The unintended expat blogger behind StillOrchardGlow

Hi, I am Ana
I work as a project manager. I'm a parent, and an expat living in Lisbon, Portugal.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term contract gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
Origins of the Move
Moving to Portugal wasn't in our long-range plan. As with many expatriate relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, routines, and expectations. Day-to-day tasks seemed more complex than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built StillOrchardGlow
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation tips or shallow tourist material. What was lacking was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that gap with practical advice drawn from real-life experiences in Portugal.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from life in Portugal
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- A sponsored review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Portugal continues, and the learning process goes on. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep recording what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Lisbon or anywhere in Portugal, feel free to get in touch.
Best regards,
Ana
